Bologna

Bologna, capital of the region of Emilia Romagna and of special interest to anyone interested in Italian food and cooking. Also known as ‘Bologna del Grasso’ it is the culinary heart of Italy.
Walk some of the 45 kilometres of covered arcades and visit the 3 churches of Santo Stefano, which was first a place of Roman, and then Christian worship; the city’s main cathedral St Petronious, contains a meridian line designed by the famous Italian astronomer Cassini in 1655.
